We managed to give this edition an international collaboration opportunity.

Holy Stitch Director: Julian Dash from San Francisco, California, USA will join us again this year. 

Julian will be joining the festival on Saturday and Sunday to take part in an Open Design Session with De Nieuwe Makers
He will also do his magic together with Clarent Savi from Hempje in Amsterdam.

These makers will operate from Gebouw 025, where also other cool collaborations and makers will be demonstrating and are hosting workshops.

Netsquare, Uniserver and Advisor join hands to get more ICT talent on their radar. On Friday August 19th they will team up during the Amsterdam Maker Festival, at the Marineterrein in Amsterdam, to search for the best developers.

  • Are you a front-end or backend developer (junior, medior or senior)?
  • Do you speak taal PHP of .NET?
  • Are you familiar with Javascript, HTML, CSS, MySQL, AJAX and Angular JS?
  • Do you like real life gaming?

That’s it, we want you! Send your e-mail to [email protected] with a short motivation and your CV.

A select group of maximum 28 people will get access to this special Escape Room Challenge. Will you escape within the time set and did you get all the assignments right? Then you will get the chance to win a year contract with Uniserver, Netsquare or Advisor. After the challenge we’ll treat you to some beers, good food and music!

De Derde Individuele Revolutie

De Derde Individuele Revolutie, oftewel de ultieme zelfstandigheid. Makers kiezen zelf wat ze maken, bouwen zelf hun bedrijfje op en leren zelf de skills die ze nodig hebben. Met meer dan 25 experts is hierover nagedacht en de conclusie is: vet! Doen! Laat mensen maar zo zelfstandig mogelijk worden! Sterker nog, dat is nodig. We kunnen niet meer uittekenen wat iemand moet leren en hoe carrières verlopen. Hokjes helpen niet meer, we hebben mensen met lef nodig. Mensen die spelen en nieuwe dingen bedenken.

Op het Maker Festival zetten we de eerste stap in de revolutie: alle bezoekers wordt gevraagd om mee actie te voeren. Wat voor maker ben je zelf? Laat je portretteren voor de eerste Gouden Gids van het Volk.

 

Achtergrond

In samenwerking met www.agendastad.nl werkte Wolfpack afgelopen half jaar aan een essay over de skills voor de next economy – met inbreng van meer dan 25 experts, waaronder makerspaces, de Design Academy, Pakhuis de Zwijger, ondernemers, onderwijzers, ministeries en uiteraard makers. Hoofdlijn van hun waarnemingen is dat de maker movement voor een belangrijk deel al doet wat men van die next economy verwacht. Waar de Amerikaanse econoom Jeremy Rifkin op systeemniveau de Derde Industriële Revolutie bepleit, maken zij die op individueel niveau al waar.

Terwijl beleidsmakers, captains of industry en wetenschap de ontwikkelingen op zich af zien komen, zitten de makers er middenin. Zij versnellen zelf de technologische ontwikkeling van 3D-printen, robotica, biotech, et cetera. Zij flexibiliseren zelf hun arbeid door te ondernemen en door hobby, studie en werk met elkaar te vervlechten. Zij combineren zelf lokale productieketens met internationale kennisnetwerken. De maker movement brengt die next economy in praktijk, simpelweg door het te doen. En heeft daarvoor dus ook de juiste skill set ontwikkeld. Produceren, experimenteren, ondernemen, samenwerken.

Het essay De Derde Individuele Revolutie wordt tijdens het Amsterdam Maker Festival gepubliceerd. In Pakhuis de Zwijger loopt komend seizoen een programmareeks waarin wordt verkend hoe de specifieke skills van de maker movement andere delen van de stad verder kunnen helpen.

 

Wolfpack 

Wolfpack is een lab voor de next economy en produceert programma’s, campagnes en publicaties. In telkens andere samenstellingen verbindt Wolfpack creatieve pioniers en beleidsmakers. De Derde Individuele Revolutie wordt uitgevoerd samen met transitiedeskundige Mattijs Taanman en designer Baschz Leeft.

 

Agenda Stad 

Agenda Stad is de samenwerking van het Rijk, steden en stakeholders gericht op het versterken van groei, innovatie en leefbaarheid van Nederlandse steden. Next Economy is een van de hoofdthema’s in het programma en streven is daar komend jaar city deals op te formuleren: concrete experimenten in de stad.
