The Ambacht in Beeld Festival presents this free workshop “Sharpen your own knife” by Olle Jansen / Vlijmscherp
Olle Jansen spent years working as a cook and found that it was not easy to keep your knifes in good sharp shape. Having your knifes ground, meant losing them for days, not a pleasant thing when you’re a cook. In 2015 he decided to become a knife-grinder himself. He bought a grinder, studied thousands of YouTube videos and practiced on any knife he could lay his hands on. And he
got valuable tips from an experienced grinder. He then bought a Piaggio Ape and costumized the interior to make it fit all his grinding tools. Since September 2015 he steers his Piaggio through the streets of the city and offers his services to cooks and other customers.
During the Amsterdam Maker Festival Olle will park his Piaggio at the Marineterrein and will offer to teach visitors how to grind their own knife. This workshop is offered by the Ambacht in Beeld Festival . An annual festival,focusing on master craftsmanship, in De Hallen in Amsterdam from 23 to 25 September. With international workshops, lectures, master classes and documentaries.
